The Monmia Primary School community is committed to providing innovative programs that stimulate and challenge each student to develop lifelong learning skills and strategies.
The school is a Prep to Year 6 school with 360 students, located in Keilor Downs Monmia Primary and provides a safe, nurturing environment where teachers, students and families work together in an effective partnership.

Monmia Primary School is a nationally recognised KidsMatter school where there is an ongoing commitment to the improve mental health and wellbeing and educational outcomes for all students.
The school community has developed a sense of belonging and family centred culture through extracurricular events such as the KidsMatter Sizzling Start BBQ, KidsMatter Twilight Picnic, Grandparents Morning, Annual Arts Show, biennial School Concert, Multicultural Lunch and House Athletics Carnival.
The school-based Literacy and Numeracy Coaches are committed to providing consistent instructional practices in every classroom. Of importance is the coaching of teachers to ensure explicit teaching strategies are consistently implemented across P-6. The Classroom Helpers Program engages parents/guardians in assisting teachers in the classrooms. The eLearning Coach supports the implementation of new technologies and rich curriculum to enhance student engagement and motivation.
The school’s Camping Program starts in Prep with a BBQ evening including an entertainer. The Year 1/2 students have a Sleepover which includes a BBQ dinner, entertainment and sleeping in the school gym. The Year 3/4 students attend a three-day camp alternating each year with an adventure camp and a camp related to their unit of work. The Year 5/6 students also attend a five-day camp to Canberra or a four-day camp adventure camp alternating each year.
Students are provided with specialist programs in Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Languages (Japanese) and Health and Physical Education. Timetabled “What I Need” time is additional learning time where students can practise skills and concepts with support. The school motto of Learn and Achieve is evident through working together as Professional Learning Communities, where the responsibility of knowing and developing all students is collective. The school uses current Visible Learning research to develop assessment capable students and deeper thinkers. Students are able to articulate their goals and their next stages of learning. The school continues to set high expectations for all students with impressive results in NAPLAN, PAT, Fountas and Pinnell and On Demand Testing indicating accelerated growth in Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
