The school is a Foundation to Year 6 school with 180 students, located in Keilor Downs Monmia Primary and provides a safe, nurturing environment where teachers, students and families work together in an effective partnership.

Monmia Primary School is a nationally recognised BeYou school where there is an ongoing commitment to the improve mental health and wellbeing and educational outcomes for all students.
The school community has developed a sense of belonging and family centred culture through extracurricular events such as the Colour FunRun Picnic, Annual Arts Show, biennial School Concert, Multicultural Lunch and House Athletics Carnival.
The school is committed to providing consistent instructional practices in every classroom. Of importance is the delivery of explicit teaching strategies in Literacy and Numeracy across F-6.
The school’s Camping Program starts in Foundation where students complete fun activities and stay for dinner. The Year 1/2 students have a Sleepover which includes a dinner, entertainment and sleeping in the school gym. The Year 3-6 students attend a two day adventure camp that supports peer connection,building strong positive relationships.
Students are provided with specialist programs in Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Languages (Japanese) and Health and Physical Education. The Morning Routine is implemented in the morning before 9.00am, where students can practise skills and concepts. The school motto of Learn and Achieve is evident through working together as Professional Learning Communities, where the responsibility of knowing and developing all students is collective. The school uses evidence based research to develop assessment capable students and deeper thinkers. Students are able to articulate their goals and their next stages of learning. The school continues to set high expectations for all students with impressive results in NAPLAN, PAT, Fountas and Pinnell and On Demand Testing indicating growth in Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
